Survey: Gas Prices Fall Nearly 53 Cents in Two Weeks A national survey shows gas prices continue to decline, tumbling nearly 53 cents a gallon in the last two weeks. The average price of a gallon of regular gasoline at self-serve stations was $2.78 Friday. Midgrade was at $2.93 and premium was at $3.05. 11 comments

Is Google Searching For Public Policy Answers? Google wants to get the US economy running on clean energy. This week Google's nonprofit announced a plan to cut the use of fossil fuels in the US before 2030. For $4.4 trillion "Clean Energy 2030" would help end the use of coal and oil to generate electricity.

The South Needs Some Serious Gas Relief After Hurricanes  Fallout from Hurricane Ike and Gustav has spiraled into massive gas shortages in the Southeast. Drivers in Nashville, TN, where the problem is the worst, wait in long lines and some follow tankers around in hopes of being the first to fill up before a station goes dry. In western North Carolina local governments have been forced to cancel programs, since there's not much gas to travel to activities.
