Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-MA) returned to the Senate Wednesday to cast the decisive vote on stalled Medicare legislation, his first appearance in the chamber since he was diagnosed two months ago with brain cancer. Kennedy was greeted on the Senate floor by a long, sustained burst of applause. His vote on the measure is critical; the Senate fell one vote short of the needed 60 on June 26. Ted Kennedy Diagnosed With Malignant Brain Tumor Doctors for the Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy say tests conducted after he suffered a seizure this weekend show a malignant tumor in his left parietal lobe. His treatment has not been determined yet, but the usual course includes combinations of radiation and chemotherapy. The 76-year-old senator has been hospitalized in Boston.
