
A magnitude-7.2 earthquake
crumpled the countryside in Japan on this morning, killing at least six people, leaving a path of destruction. At least eight people are still missing.
Military helicopters headed to the quake zone 250 miles north of Tokyo, bringing supplies and taking the injured to hospitals. At least 144 people were injured and landslides trapped 100 bathers at a hot spring resort, say officials.
Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda said they are marshaling "everybody we possibly can" to find the missing and rescue and treat the injured.

Since the earthquake, Chinese Premiere Wen Jiabao has made a bunch of friends. Over 13,000 of them to be exact —
according to his hopping Facebook profile. He's become wildly popular for his fast and feeling response to the May 12 earthquake.
