A Plague of Rats Isn't Worth Some Ink? Bangladesh Is in Crisis Spent much time thinking about Bangladesh lately? If the answer is no, don't worry — I was in the same boat, so to speak, until I saw these pictures. Earlier this month, crushing rains left 20 people dead and over 20,000 stranded when overwhelming rainfall left five feet of standing water in the low-lying areas.

Bangladesh Arrests 10,000 in One Week in Anticrime Crackdown Authorities say police have detained more than 10,000 people in a nationwide anticrime drive over the past week in Bangladesh. Police Chief Nur Mohammad said the drive was launched last Friday to improve law and order before national elections planned for late this year. He said Wednesday that more than 1,700 people were detained in the past 24 hours. 1 comment
