This year's Macworld has been called
the worst in years because of the absence of Steve Jobs, and while I can't agree with that, I will say I did mourn the lack of Steve this year.
To salve the pain, here's a video of our man back in the pre-
mock-turtleneck era, long-haired and quoting Bob Dylan. That famous line is relevant right now — for better or worse, Steve, the times, they are a changin'.

I got up bright and early yesterday morning to wait in line for the
David Pogue panel at
Macworld, and was pleasantly surprised to find that this wouldn't be like the other forums I've seen before — this was the David Pogue Show! Set up like a late night talk show set, David welcomed a few tech-savvy guests you may (or may not) recognize, one of them being
Matt Harding.
Matt is
the dancing man you (and 17 million others) have seen on YouTube, going from country to country, dancing the same little jig at each location.

Need a break from all the
Apple stuff? Before there were iPhone addicts, the original handheld attention-robber was the BlackBerry. Nicknamed CrackBerry for its similarity to the dangerous drug, those of us with the affliction were affected almost as badly as addicts to its namesake (though we kept our looks).

San Francisco is alive with the sounds of
Macworld, and the new
learn to play feature for Garageband wants to add even more beautiful music. Check out my quick video of it, with the lovely
Sara Bareilles giving a piano lesson.

I for one, cannot wait to get my hands on this; I've got a 10-year-old guitar sitting unplayed in my closet.

Wow, I cannot believe that I missed an Apple product unveiling during the keynote speech at Macworld yesterday. I guess between the
new iPhoto and iMovie announcements and the big
17-inch MacBook Pro reveal, I got so carried away that I didn't pay attention to this revolutionary new product — the MacBook wheel. So simple, so powerful, so user-friendly — Who knew that everything could be only a few hundred clicks away!

Christmas for geeks comes in January, as we're in the midst of both MacWorld and CES. Google's gift for us today is
Picasa for Mac. It doesn't matter if you're already using iPhoto or Picasa on the web, Picasa for Mac is a seamless companion.

Learning to be a better photographer when you're out of school, you usually just have to pick things up as you go along. Having someone guide you and learning by experimentation is awesome, but sometimes you can have an aha moment when you hear someone explain something from the ground up. In this video, it's aperture, and what it means — you'll also hear about F-stop, depth of field, and how they affect your photos.

On Wednesday eve, when most of you were probably ringing in the New Year with champagne and noisemakers, YouTube was showcasing
24 of their highest-rated and most memorable videos of 2008. If you've got some time to spare, it's quite entertaining to see the videos that made the cut. In the meantime, here are four of my favorite to hold you over!

It's as if Nintendo was all about making geeky fools of its cute spokesboys, as they did with a very
young Paul Rudd. Here, they gave the full-on Poindexter treatment to a couple of young lads discovering
The Legend of Zelda for the first time ("Nice graphics!" they exclaim).

The geekiness of the
How I Met Your Mother crew never ceases to amaze me. The Christmas break gave me ample opportunity to watch old seasons of the show and I came upon one of the most fabulous, relatable scenes — relatable if you're as obsessed with TiVo as I am.

That end threat, BTW — I make that one too.
