Today is National Noodle Day. While everyone is familiar with noodles and their many different forms from fettuccini to soba, I want to know how well you know classic noodle dishes.
Specifically can you identify the difference between an Italian pasta dish and a Chinese noodle dish?

Ward off the early Fall chill with a steaming bowl of this scrumptious soup. It's perfect for a Friday night — all you have to do is drop the ingredients in a pot. Crunchy bean sprouts and fresh, fragrant basil finish off the soup.

Use the
Olympics to teach your kids about the cuisines of other cultures. In this case, explain how the games are taking place in Beijing, and that lo mein is a typical Chinese noodle dish with stir-fried add-ins.
This variation incorporates regular pasta with soy and hoisin sauces.

In Mandarin, the number eight, or "ba," sounds similar to the word that means "prosper" or "wealth"; therefore, eight is considered lucky in Chinese culture. Today being 08.08.08 is an incredibly fortuitous day that has me in the mood for Chinese food. Since this Asian civilization has existed for thousands of years, its people are highly attuned to texture, flavor, color, and aroma.

The Olympics are taking place in Beijing, so I plan on serving a dim sum-inspired Chinese menu.
Dim sum are small dishes usually consumed at brunch. Since
my viewing is in the evening, the recipes aren't necessarily über-traditional; they are, however, divinely delicious.

This vegetarian pasta salad makes a great summer meal. It's packed with grilled veggies (eggplant, mushrooms, and green onions) and fresh flavors (lime and ginger). The balanced and healthy pasta comes together quickly and simply.

March happens to be National Noodle Month. To commemorate the celebration, I thought it would be fun to test your noodle knowledge. I've found pictures of a bunch of different kinds of noodles and you have to identify them.

The dish pictured below is on
the menu for the
Governors Ball. It can be made with a lot of different ingredients, but at the Oscar's after party they'll serve it with tofu, egg, bean sprouts, thai basil, mint, and peanuts.
