A child by another name is still your child. You spent months agonizing over what name to give your lil one and then one day she decided that she'd go by something different. Most tots have wild imaginations so it's hilarious to hear what they come up with.

Over the weekend, I told someone I just met that I had a puppy when asked if I had roommates. My pal overheard and was quick to point out that
North is a grown dog.
I wasn't being intentionally deceitful (after all my parents still refer to only-child-me as "the baby" and I'm far from it), and I meant it more affectionately than realistically.

I may only have one "kid" at home (
with a ton of nicknames), but I've accidentally blurted out the wrong name in the past. Have you ever called your pets by the name of another pet or – gasp! – by the name of a Sig-O or human child?

The other night while accepting his
Emmy,
Mad Men's Matthew Weiner mentioned his three children, the first two by name and then referred to the third as "the other one" before quickly adding in a proper moniker. Whether the statement was artfully crafted or a memory slip, it's something to which most moms and dads can relate. Do you ever forget your child's name or call them the wrong one?

Remember when using Barack Obama's middle name was a big deal? Yeah, vaguely right? Well it seems like his moniker has become less of a slight and
more of selling point, at least for six politicians in Brazil, all of whom have changed their names to "Barack Obama."

Where in the world is Carmen San Diego? If you search for her using the
World Names Profiler map, apparently "Sandiego" is mostly found in France. I saved this little gem for the weekend because you'll want lots of time to play with it.

Most celebrities choose
inventive baby names over traditional titles these days, creating a whole
generation of wild and unusual appellations.
People speculates that Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale put ample thought into naming their newborn son Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale.
Zuma is a popular beach in Malibu, where Gwen and Gavin often hang out with their oldest son, Kingston.

While having a junior is just about as traditional as it gets, some parents try to preserve family names without duplicating them. Instead of choosing dad or mom's moniker, they may select the name of a relative from a different era or a derivative of a name. My middle name is Hart, my great-grandmother's maiden name.

One of
YumSugar's friends sent word that she is traveling to San Diego to adopt an adorable pug named Hurley, who will be the
mascot for her company. The dog is beyond cute (he's seen here dressed as a pudgy spider last Halloween) and I must admit, he does look a bit like his namesake,
Lost's Jorge Garcia. Do you think it's fair to name pets after people (or characters) if it's an act of love?

From Gwyneth Paltrow's
Moses, Jennifer Lopez's
Max to Melissa Joan Hart's
Braydon, celebrity baby names always seem to spark conversation and trends. We've put together a
Top 100 Boy Names game that pits popular "blue" names against one another. It's just for fun, but it's interesting to see what names made the cut.
