Would You Eat Pig's Ear? I was thrilled last weekend when, while out eating Chinese, I came across a Taiwanese small plate that I enjoyed growing up. It's slivered pig's ears, and it's delicious, with a light soy-sauce flavor and both a gelatinous and crunchy texture.

Is the Noodle Dish Italian or Chinese? Today is National Noodle Day. While everyone is familiar with noodles and their many different forms from fettuccini to soba, I want to know how well you know classic noodle dishes. Specifically can you identify the difference between an Italian pasta dish and a Chinese noodle dish?

Monday's Leftovers: Steak and Bok Choy Stir-Fry Stir-fried steak reminds me of a dish my mother used to make. This recipe calls for skirt steak, but flank steak or any leftover steak would taste great in this dish. With rice, vegetables, and peanuts, this balanced, bold-flavored dish is a great way to have dinner on the table in less than an hour.

8 Prosperous Chinese Courses In Mandarin, the number eight, or "ba," sounds similar to the word that means "prosper" or "wealth"; therefore, eight is considered lucky in Chinese culture. Today being 08.08.08 is an incredibly fortuitous day that has me in the mood for Chinese food. Since this Asian civilization has existed for thousands of years, its people are highly attuned to texture, flavor, color, and aroma.

'Wich of the Week: Tofu and Chinese Broccoli With all this talk about Chinese barbecue and dim-sum Olympics parties, I've had Chinese food on the brain. So on my last trip to the farmers market, I picked up some Chinese broccoli, a yummy in-season green that tastes like a cross between asparagus, broccoli, and bok choy. After making a tofu stir-fry, I refocused the remaining ingredients into an elegant vegetarian sandwich.

Come Party With Me: Olympics Viewing — Menu The Olympics are taking place in Beijing, so I plan on serving a dim sum-inspired Chinese menu. Dim sum are small dishes usually consumed at brunch. Since my viewing is in the evening, the recipes aren't necessarily über-traditional; they are, however, divinely delicious.

Would You Eat This Dried Cuttlefish? Yesterday while at a Chinese supermarket, I came across the popular Asian snack: dried cuttlefish. Cuttlefish is similar to squid, and these dried snacks are chewy and meaty with a briny, slightly sweet flavor. I grew up eating them and think they're deliciously addictive, but I can see how their threadlike texture and fishy smell might turn people away.
