If you read my
roundup of alternative graffiti, you know about satiric, prolific, and pseudo-anonymous British graffiti artist Banksy, and also about Fred Radtke, the Gray Ghost, who has been painting over graffiti throughout New Orleans with gray paint since 1997. Although I lumped them both into one category of "alternative graffiti," the motivation behind it for the two is not the same. For Bansky, the medium is a venue for making political, cultural, and ethical statements, while Radtke considers his graywashing more of
a public service, referred to as "Operation Clean Sweep."
New Banksy Work Appears A new work by artist Banksy appeared on a wall today in London. The mural shows a child raising a plastic shopping bag as a flag. Prime Minister Gordon Brown has said he will have to force retailers to reduce the use of plastic bags if they do not take action voluntarily.

Marilyn-Monroe-alikes: First Lindsay Lohan, Now Kate Moss: We've seen
Lindsay Lohan's impression of Marilyn Monroe and now we've got a
morph of Marilyn and Kate Moss thanks to renowned street artist Banksy. The pastiche of
Andy Warhol's iconic portraits forms part of Banksy's current commercial exhibition at London's Andipa Gallery, but if you fancy the picture for your wall then I'm afraid you're out of luck — the screenprint
sold for £96,000 at Bonhams auction house earlier this month. I wonder if Kate was interested in snapping it up for herself?
