YouTube Baby Food Threats Get New York Man Arrested

Anton Dunn, a 42-year-old New Yorker who also goes by the name "Trashman," has ended up in jail after he posted numerous videos claiming that he helped poison millions of Gerber baby food containers. Wearing a black mask, Dunn said that upon his request Gerber employees contaminated the baby food with cyanide, getting him closer to his goal of killing infants.

When authorities apprehended Dunn they found no evidence that he actually did anything to baby food. Now he faces charges of sending threats and falsely claiming to have tampered with a consumer product. He also faces a maximum sentence of five years for each count.

This story reminds me of the possibly-illegal strip joint calling itself a performing arts center as a legal defense — should the law treat a threatening YouTube video as art? Free speech? Terrorism? While it's responsible for law enforcement officials to address disruptive threats, they would have their hands full if they tried to go after all the crazy stuff on the Internet.

Wanting every morsel their tot eats to be fresh and nutrient filled, more moms are opting to churn out their own baby food. I tried my hand at it a few times and found that the grocer's supply of sweet potatoes was tastier than my own. With practice and the right utensils, I am confident I could have mastered making baby food. Next time around, maybe I'll give it a shot.

Did you make your tot's food from scratch?

Delilicious: Tasty Baby

Delilicious: Tasty Baby
Baby food sometimes gives me the heebie jeebies. Not one to venture out and test the foods myself, I was convinced by Tastybaby's packaging and website that the infant food would be desirable for adults, too. The company prides itself on blast–freezing their organic recipes at peak flavor — giving the fare farm freshness and nutritional value.

Giving it my best shot, I did a lil taste test of Life's a Peach (peach purée). After a quick zap in the microwave, I was shocked by the delicious flavors inside my mouth. Convinced I must have tried the cream of the crop, I also gave Sweetie Pie (organic sweet potato and apple purée with cinnamon) and Bangos (organic banana and mango purée with vanilla) a go.

To see what I thought of the iced entrées,

Annabel Karmel Interview: Dealing With a Fussy Eater

Kids go through phases where they won't eat what is put in front of them. They may even turn their noses up at things they used to like opting for a slice of cheese or a handful of pretzels. This can be frustrating for parents who want to make sure their lil ones are getting the nutrients they need.

Food guru Annabel Karmel discusses picky eaters in her upcoming cookbook The Fussy Eaters' Recipe Book, 135 Quick, Tasty and Healthy Recipes that Your Kids Will Actually Eat which hits bookstores in August.

In the meantime, Karmel says she has always found children to be more interested in the food on their parents’ plates than on their own, so when possible eat as a family so your kids can see you noshing on different foods.

She also suggests making homemade versions of your child’s unhealthy favorites, introducing bright colored food and presenting it in a fun way. To see a video clip and get recipes for chicken fingers and chicken satay,

Annabel Karmel: Bringing Up Baby in the Kitchen

Cookbook author Annabel Karmel believes that introducing children to cooking helps them learn healthy food habits as well as counting, weighing, mixing and whisking.

Her recently released read, The Toddler Cookbook, provides parents with two-dozen fun and simple recipes to make with their offspring and features step-by-step instructions.

To hear Annabel’s thoughts on cooking with kids and get another tasty recipe,

Interview with Annabel Karmel: Liven Up the Lunch Box

Yesterday, we discussed fussy eaters with the London- based cookbook author, Annabel Karmel, and today we're talking books.

If you have a school-aged child, you know that the morning routine of getting everyone up and dressed, fed and packed for school leaves little time for creativity.

Lunch Boxes and Snacks, which hit book stores in January, takes parents beyond the peanut butter and jelly or tuna sandwiches with tips and healthy recipes to liven up your child’s lunchbox.

Recipes range from sandwich alternatives like Kiddie Sushi-Style Rolls to cold pasta salads, like Mummy’s Ramen Noodles, to ethnic alternatives like Spanish Omelets with Potatoes, Zucchini and Tomatoes.

To find these recipes and hear what Annabel had to say about snacks,

In addition to her three kids, she has 15 cookbooks on US bookshelves and lines of food prep equipment and prepared children's foods available in the UK.

That's Not Gonna Fly: Baby Food Gets the Ax

Since all the kiosks sell phone chargers, scarves, and vacation mementos, it's hard to believe there's not one selling baby goods.

Nevertheless, well–prepared traveling parents who pack supplies better think again. To see what happened to a family in Chicago's Midway Airport,
