The 527,
BornAliveTruth has unleashed a
very pointed attack on Obama's abortion record, specific to the Illinois Born Alive Protection Act. In the ad, abortion survivor Giana Jensen looks straight at the camera and after outlining that Obama failed to oppose a law leaving babies to die after failed abortions, makes an appeal to the Senator saying, "Senator Obama, please support born alive infant protections. I’m living proof these babies have a right to live.”
Obama's campaign issued a firm and immediate response to the ad, saying: The recent attacks on Senator Obama that allege he would allow babies born alive to die are outrageous lies.
New Anti-Obama 527 Plans Attack on "Hope" Theme Republican political strategists in California are setting up a new political organization, which hopes to run television commercials undermining the central themes of Senator Obama's presidential campaign while underscoring the strengths of his Republican opponent, Senator McCain of Arizona. The organization's website includes a 30-second video that shows images of war and misery around the world as an announcer gravely warns of the dangers of putting America in untested hands.

Perhaps bolstering his argument that he wants a purely people-funded campaign, Barack Obama has succeeded in getting progressive group MoveOn to abandon its 527 arm. It will still raise money as a PAC, however,
with more restrictions.
In 2004, MoveOn's 527 group spent $20 million.

I might be a special brand of crazy, but when I woke up to this news this morning, I started hyperventilating: Obama is not accepting public financing.
In shunning each tax-payer's $3 contribution we kick in when we pay our taxes, Obama is
the first candidate to do so since Congress passed 1970s campaign finance laws after Watergate in the 1970s. McCain, the Republican nominee in waiting, has already taken steps to accept the public funds in the general election — matching funds that
put a cap on how much each candidate can spend.
