It is nice to see the Chinese people have something to celebrate and be proud off but it is hard to separate that from their government's crap.

The Olympics really opens up their world to us.

only the world their government wants us to see, sadly.

i think that people forget about how hard it is to host the games and put your country/cities into the spotlight. The Chinese really made wonderful efforts and the city looks great for what we're seeing on TV. I think that it has to be hard for them to change the city - to move the homeless, to reduce the pollution and traffic. i think that they've done their country proud.

Forcing people to move. Forcing homeless people out, etc is not doing your country proud.
