Tina Fey as Sarah Palin: Last Frontier of Funny or Fizzled Out?

In case your bedtime is earlier than SNL or you were out doing something more fun last night, here's the Tina Fey as Sarah Palin sketch. She certainly looks the part and it was fun to see her back on the show. . . but was her appearance worth the hype?

What do you think of the accent? I did get a kick of the way she delivered the line about the Bush Doctrine, but all in all, how did she do? Is she the Will Ferrell as George Bush of Sarah Palin? Is Piper going to think that's her mommy?

"And I was told I'd be addressing you alone."- Amy

"And I can see Russia from my house."- Fey

    "lipstick, lipstick, Lipstick."- Amy

Those lines stood out to me. But the "riding in on a dog sled line," was really good.

It was funny, but once Fey was in the hair and outfit, it proved to me that she really doesn't look that much like Palin. Her face is so much narrower. The impression was funny, but it wasn't dead on. Which is fine, I'd rather it be funny than accurate. I think maybe her voice needs to be just a notch higher or something?

Also, I adore Amy Poehler, but her Clinton impersonation is abysmal. The weird, smarmy voice is so off.

(And how cute is she all preggo?)

That was freaking hilarious, my expectations were actually really low because of all the hype, but Tina totally nailed it, and while amy doesnt resemble hilary, she was a riot.

Now that we got the SNL funny over with, can't wait to hear The Daily Show's take on Lipstickgate and the Gibson interview. New epis tomorrow. I bet they wish they didn't have last week off. The had a lot of material they could have worked with last week. Eye-wink

Twinkle -- that was my favorite part. I wish the campaign would stop using that line -- I mean -- all she can see is a mountain -- she can't see what's on the other side.

I laughed so hard I nearly cried. Tina Fey's impression was dead on and the accent was completely perfect.

I've never liked the HRC impression as much. It's good, but not a dead ringer like Fey's Palin.

    Gah, I'm still snickering...

The accent was right now, and the beginning was funny but I find SNL skits go on for too long!

Dave, a light has shone down...from somewhere, and it has been decreed that no one shall make fun of the messiah.

Tina Fey is my new favorite person. I just started watching 30 Rock and after her Palin skit I am obsessed with her! Love the Rissia from my backyard line! Amy's Hilari was halfway but the writing was fantastic! I don't watch SNL normally but I think this election will inspire me to watch or at least DVR

^ LOL! He was supposed to be on last night. I'm sure to make some snarky attempt at poking fun of that waste of time sexism claim about lipsticks and pigs that at this point Grandpa McSame only beleives. Eye-wink

Fey as palin was great. Amy just seems like they dress her as hillary and then she takes off. Not much of an impression.

that was pretty damn funny... i have to say, it made me feel really bad for hillary. and the line about not wanting to be the first female president, but wanting to be president and just happening to be a woman... so true. there was a lot of truth in it.

UD -- I guess you don't watch much SNL -- they DID make fun of Obama -- and so did jibjab -- and other countless cartoons, avatars, and whatnot. No one is immune.

I suggest you search "SNL on Obama" via youtube.com. It's funny as hell.
