Egaffes! Was Joe Biden's Freudian Slip For Real?

Now that the Democratic convention has come to a close, one question remains. In his big speech this week Democratic vice-presidential nominee, Joe Biden, tripped over his words in the most elegant way. So elegant, it's left us wondering if it was scripted or in fact pure gaffe.

Get Flash to see this player.

He said, "That's the America that George Bush has left us, and that's the America we'll continue to get if George . . . excuse me, if John McCain is elected president. . . . Freudian slip! . . . Freudian slip." Was it?

Why was this added to the yes staged choice?

It added to the Bush-McCain connection.

I wanted to vote for staged but refuse to vote for it if it says that at the end. What about a choice for people who just think it's staged but don't support that fluff at the end?

GS, we ought to be used to the bias by now. Of course it was staged. And no, I don't care. It's just more silliness.

i thought it might be staged when I first saw it. But it was funny, so I don't care if it was staged or not. Sticking out tongue

How come we are accusing Citizen of being biased? She is the Republican sugar.

The options on the quiz were biased, whether or not Citizen says she is a Republican.

If you were there and couldn't tell if it was staged, how can we? I'm just not sure that he's that good an actor, but he would be that quick at recovering.

I'm confused as to why "it added to the Bush-McCain connection" is a problem. If it were staged, what else would the reason have been to do that if not to attempt to further that idea?

It's a problem because when you click that option its implying you see a Bush-McCain connection, and that you're glad it was pointed out.

michelin is accusing citizen of being a republican. this blog is NOT biased. maybe it's not as right wing as you'd like michelin, but its more balanced than 99% of what's out there. and i think insulting the editors is getting pretty old now.

I thought it was real. George and John would be easy to mix up if you are using both close together in a speech. It just seemed to match his usual speech pattern.

I feel that sniping at each other is acceptable, but going after Citizen and Liberty is tacky. They try to make things entertaining and thoughtful and can't measure every word to meet with everyone's approval.

I just feel like the wording on the options could be better. How about "Was it staged? Yes, no, maybe, or other." There's no need to interject any other opinions into it, that's what comments are for. I'd just like an option I can actually click. I'm not really trying to "go after" Citizen.

sorry that was supposed to say "michelin was accusing citizen of "SAYING" she was a republican"... hope that makes more sense now. you were implying that she only says she's conservative, but that in reality the blog is biased.

I honestly don't know whether Citizen is a republican or not. It doesn't really matter to me. I still feel that the material on the Sugar sites as a whole is rather left-biased. I don't "have a chip on my shoulder", I just call it like I see it. It doesn't even bother me that much, I'm used to a bias in the media. I can argue my points no matter how the original article is worded.

I'm not reading it that way at all, and I don't think it means you agree there is a Bush-McCain connection. I think it simply indicates that if staged, it added the idea they are pushing that the connection exists.

The good news for you if you insist on interpreting it in that manner is there is a fourth choice.

I have to agree with Michelin, i often look at the options on these questions and None apply to me.
I always have to choose the last one which sucks.

and more often than not its because they dont offer a balanced view.

    there isnt a.b.c and d. its A, A-part 2, and A-part 3 and D for the people who dont like A.

Saying comments after with the yes, no or maybe options is a Sugar format. They do it on all the Sugar sites Pop, fab, fit, bella, buzz all do that.

YY is right. If you are looking for completely unbiased politics coverage your never going to find it but Citizensugar is more unbiased than most of what else there is out there in cyber land.

i dont know about the other sugar sites, i don't read them. but as far as this particular site goes... i don't see the bias. they go out of their way to show both sides -- and not in a stupid "Hannity & Colmes" type of way where one side is just there for show. i'm thankful that a site like this exists if for no other reason than to give me the chance to argue with conservatives like you.

But wouldn't you agree that adding a little comment after the yes or no is inherently biasing the response? Furthermore, these three options are 1- not staged, 2- staged, but I don't care because he's pointing out the bush connection, 3- give me more Obama! So its a little annoying that almost anybody not in favor of Obama would have to pick 'other'.

Well I'm personally offended that citizen is in red and sugar is in blue. What are they trying to do? Imply that all the substance is with the republicans and all the rhetoric is with the liberals. Also citizen has more letters in it which is CLEARLY a bias towards team red.

Guys, my original comment wasn't calling out team red or team blue or stating a huge conspiracy. I was stating I didn't like the option on THiS quiz. And mich is going to say whatever the heck she wants when she wants and trying to tell her not to is censorship. You may not like what she says, but she can say it.

well if the poll shows that most picked other then the poll shows that most did not agree with any of the options offered. it's a poll. you can't possibly address every single possible answer someone could have. also, the thing about obama appearing overhead was really really funny.

And as far as the results, that doesn't prove anything other than the representation of those posting. I chose oz, because I thought it was poking fun of Obama. Others may choose not to vote because they aren't represented with an answer.

I have seen this man, in only two days since his speech, nearly threaten the CS community with violence. I have seen the world Joe Biden offers us and it is a world of naked brutality and horror.

I actually do see your point GS, but there have been other threads when I didn't fit into any of the options they gave us. Actually about 90% I mark other. So I guess I don't think it's that big of a deal. I'm sure she didn't mean the bias....I mean you guys are on the same team after all. Citizen just likes to get her jokes in.
