McCain's got a delicate balancing act to do--appease the social conservatives without alienating moderates. I don't envy him his task.

HGTV is pretty much always on in the background when my daughter is napping or they are all asleep at night. lol, even right now!

Me neither Jude. It's a slippery slope. Both candidates have this problem this election, I think anyway!

    That's true, GS.

Oh, and I would be creeped out if someone carved my likeness into a block of butter! (Or any other random food substance!)

Reminds me of that girl on Hell's Kitchen who boasted that she could carve Gordon Ramsay's face into a watermelon. Sticking out tongue

I had a spoiled friend in high school who had a big 18th party. She had a bust of herself in ice. Everyone oohed and awed, but i just thought she looked constipated.

Another thing. Can y'all tell I am out of my first trimester? I feel so much nicer. The hormonal change was almost visible. Another problem is mommy brain though. At the doctor yesterday I kept telling the nurse I was glad to be through with the first SEMESTER. And now every time I try to say trimester, I say semester. Oh well, I'd rather be ditzy for a few months than a b!tch again!

mmmm, food network gets me in trouble though. I go out and buy all these expensive ingredients and then ruin them when i try to replicate what I saw. Then we eat little ceasar's five dollar pizza!

Yeah, I do that, too. And it's never something with fairly inexpensive ingredients I can afford to sort of waste with my experiments, but always something to do with meat or seafood!

Speaking of which, I'm starving now!

Oh I also LOVE foodtv! I don't have cable right now, but their website is the first place that I go to when I need a new recipe.

What's wrong with HGTV? It Rock!

I've never heard first hand but I hear that supposedly masses have a problem with Sen. Biden. Personally I've always liked him and appreciate his no nonsense style of expressing him self. I think at this point it should be either him or Gov. Richards.

Harmony! I was too. I bought some beautiful one's last night and my husband swore to me he would grill them tonight with some baked potatos. It is raining and I fear he will try to renig, but he needs to know that if he does, he's packing Jude and I in the car and taking us to a steakhouse!

I'm okay with fish now (I love searing some good, fresh tuna), but I'm so terrified of cooking shellfish that unless it's something easy like scallops, I mess it up out of nothing but the fear of messing it up.

    Mmm. Steak.

I'm a fan of the bottom feeder. Can not get enough cat fish. Halibut and Salmon are my next favorite although Salmon is really over fished so I need to ween my self off of it.

I adore sesame chicken. There is a little dive place by our office that makes the best ever. And Jude, how do you sear it? Does it smell up your whole house? Spill and share the knowledge!

Hypno, you need to come down to Texas in the late spring. We have big Fish fries. They are huge parties with mouthwatering catfish.

Mmm--wild salmon is sooo good. Catfish, too.

GS, the searing is surprisingly easy. I get fairly thick sashimi-grade tuna steaks, usually from Trader Joe's (you have to make sure it's sashimi-grade if you're going to do what is essentially eating it raw), slice each steak in half so that I end up with about 2-inch-wide strips, and cover all sides with...um...Chef Paul Prudhomme's Seafood Magic or something else like that.

Just sear each side in very hot oil at very high heat for about 30 seconds. The goal is just to sear the outsides without cooking through all the way, so it's fast. Then just slice the fish up and serve it however you want!

I think, too, that because the fish spends so little time in the pan, it doesn't stink up the house.

No, seriously, I need to write jill a pm of apology. I just kind of woke up this morning not in a funk. i'm kind of weepy, yo gabba gabba made me cry this morning, but they were happy tears. Pregnancy is so weird. You are just a spectator to your own body.

Jude, I just copy pasted that to save in my recipe folder. That sounds amazing. And relatively easy. I had a tuna steak burger like that one time. It was heaven. Gosh, i am freakin' starving now!

I LOVE fish fries. When I was stationed on Diego Garcia we would go deep sea fishing during the day and then clean the fish right there on the beach and have an immediate fish fry with homemade cocktail sauce. There is NOTHING like wahoo or tuna fresh 2 hours out of the ocean. Drool

Hooray, GS! I'm so glad you are feeling better! When the time comes for me to be sportin' a prego belly, I'll probably be the biggest witch this side of the Missourah.

GS, I'm also happy you feel better Smiling I hope you can enjoy your second semester more than the first--isn't that how it often goes?
