Doctors for the Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy say tests conducted after he suffered a seizure this weekend show a malignant tumor in his left parietal lobe. His treatment has not been determined yet, but the usual course includes combinations of radiation and chemotherapy.

The 76-year-old senator has been hospitalized in Boston. His wife and children have made no public statements, though the Senator is reported to be in good spirits and is resting comfortably.

My dad had this kind of tumor and unfortunately it is not a great kind of cancer. It can be quite debilitating, my dad was unable to walk steady and often suffered from seizures. From date of diagnosis until his death was 8 months. But they have made some great strides in treatment since he passed away 6 years ago.

This is very sad. My husband's father died of a brain tumor - it's very hard to watch someone go through. I wish the family the best through this very trying time.

like everyone else, this just horrible. he is in one of the best hospitals in the world so obviously he is in great hands. hearing all of the well wishes from his friends has been really nice but sen. robert byrd gave what had to be the most emtional of the responses today. i was walking on the treadmill at the gym and saw this and got really choked up seeing a 91 year old man break down like that.

Sucks. My mother died of a benign brain tumor that grew so fast that crushed her brain stem stopping her respiratory system. Brain tumors are so suddenly crippling and brutal. My childhood neighbor and his mother both had malignant brain tumors that were caught extremely early because my mom recognized the signs of a tumor in them and forced them to see her neurosurgeon. Some 25 years later their both still alive and healthy and my mom is died from a tumor that wasn't cancerous.

Hate to say at his age, and the advanced stage of his tumor (causing seizures and paralysis) he will not have long and he will be in extreme discomfort.
