Arianna — Iraq Is McCain's Viagra: You Like a Dose of Huff Po?

Last night on The Colbert Report, Arianna Huffington explained that John McCain's passion for Iraq is "his Viagra." Ariannna, the supreme ruler of the liberal site The Huffington Post, discussed how she fell out of love with her former hero McCain, while promoting her new short-titled book: Right Is Wrong: How the Lunatic Fringe Hijacked America, Shredded the Constitution, and Made Us All Less Safe.

The Huffington Post is not shy about its agenda — and love for Barack Obama. The fact that the site features unabashedly left-leaning opinions, often written by public officials or celebrities, probably means you either love it or hate it. I actually spend more time reading the comments, which are often fiery, but surprisingly nuanced.

Do you enjoy a regular dose of the Greek-born populous Arianna? Or, do you find The Huffington Post too partisan of a pill to swallow?

I read it at least once a day, but the Huff Post's headlines are so often misleading that I've lost a lot of respect for it. I've stopped looking at the comments because they get so vicious - and the blogs are mildly interesting but you can tell for a lot of the writers it's a hobby: I always double check any facts they offer that seem interesting.

I think that's a good way to approach it, stephley. Don't rely on it as fact, but use the site to supplement what's being covered (ignored) by the rest of the media.

did anyone see 30 rock last night, hilarious, as usual. Best part was matthew broderick playing the head of the the dept. of homeland security - named cooter burger. And he said that Bush named him that because cooter = looks like a turtle. and then one time bush saw him eating a ham burger, even though it was a sandwich, and started calling him a burger! Cooter Burger. Love it.

I think that the site allows a lot of different liberal voices, some which are very credible and some which are just absurd.

I think it should be noted, however, that Arianna used to be a HUGE McCain supporter for years! She had parties at her house for the McCain book, "Faith of My Fathers", with both his co-writer and McCain there.

She also asked McCain to give the keynote address at the 2000 GOP Shadow Convention that she organized in Philadelphia.

She also accepted McCain's invitation to join the board that McCain founded, the Reform Institute. She has written many newspaper columns praising John McCain.

She says, "Hero worship dies hard, which is why it took so long for me to see that the man who had been willing to take on his own party and redefine what it meant to be a "loyal Republican", who stood up for his beliefs in campaign finance reform and his opposition to unconsionable tax cust and even more unconscionable tourture, was no more."

I'm sorry to stay off topic, but this show just makes me laugh out loud.

    Here's a classic quote:
    Liz: I'm feeling pretty drunk.
Jack: Well, it's business drunk. It's like rich drunk, either way it's legal to drive.

    My last one, I swear

Kenneth: Oh no Sir, I don't vote Republican or Democrat. Choosing is a sin, so I always just write in the Lord's name.
Jack: That's Republican. We count those.

I'll go back and read later. For now, this woman is way to far left. She is Ann Coulter on the other side.

Actually, hartsfull, she isn't that far left. She used to be more right to moderate, until she saw how the Republicans had mutated into something far different from what they originally stood for. See my post above about her and McCain!

Steph, that really is a good way to look at it. I'm glad to read that.

Not all Republicans have mutated. Unfortunately, just the politicians, and the religious right stole our name! Angry Mob

I think we will see a rise in Libertarians in years to come. This may be my last year voting Republican depending on how the party goes. I might be going to the Libertarian side.
