Alec Baldwin Coming to an Election Near You?

Alec Baldwin is getting ready to retire from acting. The Democratic actor just sat down with 60 Minutes to discuss his future in . . . politics!

Now that he's turning 50, Alec says he's ripe for elected office. I say —now that he's 50, he also has more skeletons in his not-so-private closet.

But, Alec says he's ready for the public scrutiny, and will be more careful about his actions. He explained:

You can pretty much bet all you own that I would never leave another voicemail message for my daughter that wasn’t just like something out of a Rogers and Hammerstein score.

Want to hear more of this? The whole interview will air this Sunday.

Alec has had politics on the brain for a while. Back in 2004, Alec had strong words for fellow actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, saying "if the largest, most economically significant state in America could elect a man who is totally unqualified for the job, then they can elect anyone."

Going back even further, in 2000 Alec said he would move to Canada if George W. Bush was elected. Guess he couldn't find a flight!

Do you think Americans want to cast movie stars as their leaders? Would you vote for Alec?

He may be liberal but he's got a rotten temper, has shown bad judgment in the past and his eyes are getting all squishy.

After Glengarry Glen Ross, he has my vote without question. I can think of worse things than having a great actor in office.

    Just a tad - I feel like YY's bunny.
I think Stewart's too smart to run - I don't think all the compromising a politician has to do would sit well with him.

I don't know didly about Alec Baldwin except his baby blues in The Hunt For Red October drove me nuts before they got all squishy.

I live in California and I thought it was mistake to move for a recall because everyone was putting the blame in the wrong corner for our energy crisis. Only to find out after the fact that certain manipulative corporations were to blame.

Never the less our efforts yielded Arnold Schwarzenegger and his critics including my self thought he would make a lousy Gov. He's not the greatest but he certainly is not half as bad as his critics including my self made him out to be.

Luckily for us he turned out to be a some what pleasant surprise. He is also not as conservative as some would thing and very bipartisan in his approach to problems.

I'd love to see him run. I bet that he gets eaten alive in the first debate. He isn't much of a speaker when there isn't a script.

I'm trying to hold back on my emoticon use because it scares Rac. Don't ask.

I've always liked Alec Baldwin. He's always been politically active. I've enjoyed his write ups on the Huffington Post. I'd like to see how he handles running for public office.
