Above, President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush watch a skit about abstinence at a school in Kigali, Rwanda.

We're desperately searching for the lost script right now, but how do you think the story went?

PS — more awesome pictures from Bush's African voyage coming soon.

I'm amazed that in this day and age people still encourage abstinence only programmes. Stupidest thing I ever heard.

This administration is known for supporting abstinence and marriage fidelity programs with condoms being a focus for high-risk groups such as prostitutes. That is BS considering monogamous women are contracting HIV from their husbands in many nations. BS.

The U. S. contribution of originally 6 billion dollars to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS earmarked a full one-third of that for abstinence only programs. Further monetary contributions also have a provision that at least one third needs to be for abstinence only programs.

In my opinion that is not the most effective way to fight a pandemic.

Trixie it's like people are living under a rock thinking that by telling kids than no sex is the safest sex they will not have sex. If this was the case then HIV/AIDS rates should have dropped by now. In countries like mine where the HIV/AIDS rate has actually dropped is due to the fact that people are beign educated to use condoms, to wear protection. There are adverts everywhere in the media and we have HIV victims going out and coming out to talk to the people and tell them that condoms aren't the enemy, ignorance is. In a perfect world abstinence would be great but this is definitely not a perfect world.

I believe in teaching abstinence but also teaching about safe sex to go along with it.

I am thinking that Laura and George are sitting over there thinking:

Laura "my brown pants really blend in with these surroundings"
George "Gee I hope there is going to be an intermission, nothing like a quickie with Laura in the Bush, heh heh heh"

Kids putting on play "I thought we were getting Oprah"

    CaterpillarGirl, that's amazing!
I think kids should be encouraged to abstain from having sex, but the focus of sex ed programs should be just that...education about sex and how to go about it in a smart and safe way! Duh.

I must be missing something here. Why should they be forced to watch this? George and Laura are married and therefore they are entitled to have sex anytime they want, right?
